What is Amazon Prime Student?

As the name suggests, this is a version of Amazon Prime aimed specifically at those studying at a full-time college. For a small monthly fee of £3.99/$7.49 per month or £39/$69 per year, students have access to Prime Video, Prime Music and Prime Reading services. You'll also benefit from free expedited delivery on items marked Prime to the Amazon store, 10% off textbooks, plus Amazon Drive photo storage and early access to Lightning Deals.

Students in the US have other incentives like a Twitch TV subscription, Prime Gaming, and the ability to borrow books.

Amazon Prime Student includes free one-day delivery on millions of items (one-day for UK students, unlimited two-day delivery for students in the Republic of Ireland). Members also receive exclusive discounts and access to premium content such as music, movies and TV shows.

Am I eligible for Amazon Prime Student?

To sign up for Amazon Prime Student, you must (obviously) have an Amazon account.or create one. The registration process will require a valid university email address (ending in in the UK or .edu in the US), which will be verified. The application will also ask for the expected graduation year and a method of payment (credit or debit card).

They also have to be 18 or older, which is a huge blow for college students, but we suspect the calculation is that they'll still be living at home and benefiting from their parents' Amazon Prime account.

To prove that you are a current student, you will need your academic email address and you can verify your status by sending a photo of your student ID, for example. If you have not yet received an email address, you can still apply by sending another registration certificate

This includes scans of your NUS Extra or NUS Apprentice Extra card, a copy of your university or academic institution enrollment letter, a tuition bill, or other correspondence from your college or university confirming your student status.

How to Enroll in Amazon Prime Student

Log in to your account when prompted. Then search for Prime Student. On the page there should be an option to try Prime Student. Select this option, enter your academic email address and indicate the year you wish to graduate. The latter is used so that Amazon can transfer your Prime student account to a standard Prime account upon completion of your studies.

How to get Amazon Prime Student for free?

You should now see the Start Test button. As of this writing, Microsoft is sponsoring new student accounts so that students don't have to pay for the first six months of membership.

In comparison, a regular Prime subscription only allows up to a 30-day trial.

If after six months you choose to keep your Prime Student membership, you'll only pay £39/$69 per year or £3.99/$7.49 per month, which is half the normal cost of a Prime membership.
